Spangdahlem MS is fully accredited by the North Central Association for Accreditation. Every five years the school is visited by North Central to assess the success of the school's individual school improvement plan. The professional and auxiliary staff members at school complete an in-depth report which addresses one affective and one cognitive area that the school has chosen to address in an outcomes based school improvement plan. This self-study is submitted to the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools for their review and evaluation.

Over the years Spangdahlem MS has been visited by the North Central Association and as a result has been recommended for outcomes-based accreditation. Spangdahlem MS has been commended for its efforts to provide its students a quality program of education, and for continuing its quest for excellence. In addition to the accreditation visits, annual reports are submitted to the NCA, which serves as an update for the original self-study. The process of self-evaluation is continuous.

Spangdahlem Middle School's Mission Statement

Spangdahlem Middle School promotes high achievement and lifelong learning for all students through positive interactions and standards-based educational programs.

CSP/School Improvement Goal

  • Goal 1: Analyzing text for comprehension across the curriculum.
  • Goal 2: Problem solving and reasoning skills- 4 steps of problem solving across the curriculum.

The primary aim of the School Improvement Process is to help the school community improve the instruction for all of our students. The School Improvement Process is the vehicle to implement the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) Community Strategic Plan. Through goals, strategies, and actions, the plan establishes rigorous standards for the school that will inspire and prepare all students for success in a dynamic, global environment. Schools develop their individual plans around the 4 goals of the link DoDEA Community Strategic Plan.

School Improvement is the process through which schools examine local data to identify an instructional focus for Goal 1: Highest Student Achievement. This focus will guide school decision-making over the course of 4 to 5 years. Goals 2, 3, and 4 (Performance-Driven, Efficient Management Systems; Motivated, High Performing, Diverse Workforce; Promoting Student Development through Partnerships and Communication) are woven in to support the goal of highest student achievement through the allocation of resources, on-going staff development, and the use of meaningful partnerships. The working group of the school improvement process is the School Improvement Leadership Team (SILT). This team is comprised of a cross-section of the teaching staff, the principal, and parents. Please become acquainted with the School Improvement Plan and be an informed advocate for highest student achievement!
